It's a product called Grill-O-Sheet! It's meant for using on a grill so bits of food don't fall through, but it makes a perfect ventilation system. I traced it on the lid and then cut the lid out a bit smaller than the Grill-O-Sheet so there'd be a bit of 'lip' for it to rest on, and then used clear duck tape to secure it in place. Olive can't reach it at all so no worries! ;)

I also used a very hot hot glue gun to bore ventilation holes in the bin itself. This made for lovely uniform circles and since I'm a bit of a perfectionist, this sort of thing mattered, lol.

Here are the Grill-O-Sheets: Grill-O-Sheet Aluminum Barbecue Grill Sheets (http://www.grillosheet.com/)

And here is where I got the idea: YouTube - Roborovski Dwarf Hamster Habitat: Plastic Bin Cage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMGNrYJzDu8)

It looks really nice, I might make one myself if I take a Russian Dwarf I've been offered. I made an insect cage and bought some mesh from ebay which worked out quite pricey as I only needed a bit and next day saw one of them oven mesh chips sheets. Probably same stuff yours was made out off but the holes were much smaller.

Was wondering what them cubes are called that you have in your cage? I'm doing a massive clear out but forgot the name of them.
