Tonight is Burn's night when us Scottish folks celebrate the great bard himself Robert Burns.
Dommy Bob was accosted by a huge Haggis

Its a creature native to scotland that lives mainly in the hills of the highlands. Over millenia it has evolved longer legs on its left side in order to enable it to run round steep hillsides with incredible speed :P

Lol im joking its just a food made out of offal and stuffed in a sheeps stomach... sounds nicer when its an imaginary animal :D

Haggis isnt actually Scottish, was found in an English cookbook from years before it was mentioned in any Scottish ones...

*Runs and hides, hoping I dont get banned :o*

Hahaha I totally just imagined that "haggis" animal running around a hill in circles.

I spent some time in Scotland and never heard of haggis before. I also haven't the slightest idea what offal is. But it looks sort of like a sausage?

Offal is the internal organs and such like :)

Some haggis info
Haggis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haggis)
I rather like haggis actually and it is quite good for you. No the hammies didn't get any as it is too peppery and salty for them but Dommy Bob did try and open it up! Callie the kitten had a tiny bit and she liked it. That's my lass :)
I am a true born and bred Scot myself and we always had haggis at least once a week when I was little.

I really like haggis too but it's so hard to find one that has the right taste and texture :( We had haggis last night and I was really wishing that I could give Treacle a taste (I'm sure she'd love it :) ) but it's got too much salt and spices for little hammies.

Awww bless ^_^ I had veggie haggis which I love (:
My two had a burns supper- mashed tatties, neeps, carrot and fake haggis! Here's a pic-

Yes, Turnip (the big purple and white one) or Swede as it seems to called everywhere now :)

The haggis story brough back memories from when I visited Scotland think I was about 9 and got to choose a cuddly Haggis with that story on it from a wicker basket full of the wee beasties:mrgreen:

I personally love Haggis, esp served with neeps and tatties think thats on the menu for next week now

Eughh I canny eat haggis. Just doesn't sit well in my mind. :D.
I love the tale of the wee beasties though with their legs longer on one side so they can run around the hills. I always look out for them when in the north, just in case I get to see one in the flesh!
