I think the babies of the last litter are at least 10!!!

I saw them last Saturday during theri first exploration of the cage...

This is the reason why they are so small, compared with the other litters!

And maybe this is another reason why Lady moved at least 10 times the nest...

Here the first pictures, taken yesterday, Sunday, 12 day old

Aww that poor mother  those little babies are clinging to her nipples it looks like. Awww so cute! You really give them a lot of green to eat.. it doesn’t cause them diarrhea does it? Its hard to know sometimes what is too much

you know in the past I used to breed syrians, I never gave them water at all, just fresh fruits and vegetables...sometime ago I was a little bit surprised reading somewhere about disturbs caused by greens...moreover I used to give them plenty of lettuce, which is one of the most suspected for digestive disturbs...of course I am not the one saying "I've always done like that and nothing happened..." I think that is not the right approach for the continuos improvement...for this reason, with this in mind, I am not giving them lettuce at all now, only broccoli, soya sprouts, roman lettuce and slices of apple...especially homemade soyasprouts, that probably don't have a big amount of water and seems to be preferred to other greens (the mother Lady bring them to the babies since the first days, just the top, not the root...)

I noticed that adults are quite able to self-regulate the quantity of greens to eat...it's not always the same...

thank you and bye bye

Wow, that certainly is a lot of babies Alberto  Hope mum is getting lots of help from her partner and previous litter looking after these guys. You have to wonder why they build their nests in the most akward of places :D :?:

I have never had this many myself (8 was my maximum), though a fellow breeder had 13 and some books I have read say they can have up to 14, although 4 is generaly the normal size.

You will need to start growing your own brocolli :!:

My babies are now 11 days old - When is it safe to clean cage?

When can the babies be handled please?

Why :?:

Does Bubbles sleep with Stella away from babies ( yes they're friends again)

Babies are creeping out of their nest now...so far I've counted 4 !!! and now I've noticed that she has taken one of babies with her to sleep with Stella ???

1) it's safe after 14 days cleaning the cage and handle for very short periods the babies, but pay attention, because the babies usually are very alive and can have sudden movements...

2) don't worry for that, in my opinion it is quite normal...

bye bye
