Little bugs on Cheeks cage
I have been noticing little bugs on the outside of my hamsters cage. He doesn’t seem to have any on him I check him daily. He does have one little spot that looks like a tiny scab. He does not excessively itch himself. When I squish the bugs they pop like a little blood balloon. Are these dangerous for Cheeks??

Re: Little bugs on Cheeks cage
You need to see a vet and have these identified and get an appropriate treatment. These sound like red bird mites which can affect hamsters. They are only killed by certain types of spot on.

Re: Little bugs on Cheeks cage
After seeing the vet you may need to do a full cage clean as well. Have you introduced anything new recently? (To the cage or room) that the bugs could have come from?
