Default Friends lists

I was wondering how difficult it would be to add some "Facebook" type features in here.

Mainly, I was thinking, that we could add people as friends/important, and then if we want to see just the threads (maybe even posts) that they have put up, we can click on something that will take us to a special feed that will show us their threads. Or prioritise threads by certain people. Or even a filter on a specific hamster's name (although with lots of hamsters having the same name that would be tricky).

This would be useful, for example, if we've been off the board for a week and have thousands of unread posts, but want to catch up on our favourite hams' (well poster's hams') goings ons, pictures, health etc.

At the moment, we have our contact list (under "Community" > "Contacts") but we still need to go into each contact individually and look up all the threads posted by them.

And there is of course signing up to threads that already exist. But nothing to help you know about new threads that you might want to prioritise and read about, but miss because of the masses of other threads.

Unless there is something like this that I've not noticed? Or that this goes against the whole idea of a forum. Just thought it might help endorse the feeling of community.

I like the idea of this...just one worry that new members and their hamsters won't be well known. So if no-one adds them as a friend they may think that no-one cares about them and their hamsters?

I agree with Snickers, there would be a danger of the forum becomming "clique" like, which is not appealing in the slightest.

Yeh I was worried about that too. But I figured if it was a hidden away thing then it'd be somewhere you can go if you specifically wanna check if anything interesting has been up by people. Like I spend the majority of my time on the front page and occasionally go into individual forums. So it'd be like a special individual forum that has only posts by people you specifically want to see?

I dunno, I guess we can discuss it and we'll figure out if it'd be worth it. I wouldn't want new members to suffer at this. I just figured since HC is getting better it'd help you keep on top of what's happening with people you talk to regularly.

Perhaps more of a "Twitter" thing, where you're following people. So you don't have to accept friends requests or anything. I wouldn't want this place to turn clique. :/ (ETA: I hadn't even seen your post when I wrote that Roxie)

What about members who believe Facebook is the work of the devil? Like me.

Seriously I'll get round to making one one day but for now...Work of the Devil...Not that I believe in one...Because most gods in my religion aren't exactly 'godly'. >.<
