Re: Hamster Central Theme
This sounds like it may get a bit heated. I think it's down to personal opinion. I, as a person, hate change. If someone changes something in my study I immediately panic and have to change it back. That's why I hate it when CoCa changes.
The HOTM thing needs to be taken up with a mod though, not on a thread originally about themes. However I do think that no matter what, you can't change what ham someone votes for. That's why it's a vote.

Sorry - I didnt mean to offend! Snickers was lovely
But that kinda proves my point (your second point not the first) - I thought it was a photograph competition not a hamster personality competition?
I know you removed the bit about me just coming back but I wanted to reply to it anyway - I have been here on and off since I stopped posting so I have been seeing whats been going on. Part of the reason I stopped posting was because of the atmosphere - I'd get excited about being able to come on here when I could use a computer and after reading a few posts I closed the page because I was just reading mostly nasty or judgemental posts.

Re: Hamster Central Theme
I may have over-reacted a bit but it just upsets me that people think hams are voted for just because people feel sorry that they are gone. Especially when one of those was my hamster who meant the world to me. The picture showed her personality and her illness which is why I entered it, sorry if that wasn't clear.
Yeah, I removed that bit as it doesn't sound right over the internet and I thought it would be percieved in a tone that I didn't want it to be.

I've been told I have an "aggressive posting style" when 9/10 whatever I'm posting is lighthearted (like this is, just trying to help thats all)

Re: Hamster Central Theme
I know most people don't mean to sound aggressive or horrible. Like I said, it's so hard to work out HOW people are saying things e.g tone of their voice.

Re: Hamster Central Theme
I think thats the biggest problem that forums have - maybe thats all the problem is here, people misunderstanding how others mean things if you see what I mean.

Yeah, I think that is mainly what's causing it. Especially when we have members from all over the world and when English is not their first language they tend to use harsher words not knowing the meaning 100%.
Nice to have you back around btw!

I know what you mean - my OH plays LOTRO, there's been a number of times when I've been horrified by what someone has said only to find out that they don't quite know what they said meant hehehe!
Thanks I've been around, just not posting, felt like posting today, got into a conversation with someone which sparked me posting the theme suggestion, kinda wish I hadnt now mind you Should have waited until I'd been around a while again.

Tee hee. Conversation is difficult at times.
I know what you mean about changing something to improve situations. I guess in a way I am a bit wary of change. I like things to remain simple and as uncomplicated as possible. I suppose I'm more for a permanent fix and I think changing the outside of something doesn't necessarily resolve any internal issues and can gloss over the real problem.
Your thoughts on community involvement are interesting though - maybe that is something that can be looked at.
