Ignoring the ones that are completely unsuitable, as they are likely the ones most used, you'll probably find that cages such as the Savic Plaza/Plaza XL/Hamster Heaven are the most popular, due being some of the largest commercially bought cages there are. I think many people do make their own cages from IKEA furniture (like the old Detolf) or plastic bin cages.
