Hi everyone,
I'm looking to get some advice on my hamster Chowder (25 months old/Long haired Syrian). I was looking at a post about Cushings disease and he has all of the symptoms: Fully baldy stomach, Baldy bum and legs, dark patches of skin, drinking and weeing more often - and just yesterday I noticed he had some scabs on his back.
I did take him to the vet who gave him treatments for mites (she didn't do a skin scrape) and nothing has changed. So I'm convinced that it is Cushings - unless anyone has any other ideas of what it may be. Unfortunately there are no vets in my area that specialize in anything's other than cats and dogs so I need some advice.
I will be doing his tank out tonight, putting in softer furnishings and getting rid of any toys that may be abrasive to his skin. I've also ordered some vitamins to go in his water just in case he goes off his food or if he is missing anything in his diet. He is sleeping for way longer than usual but besides that he seems his happy active self.
Is there any recommendations for skincare or his general wellbeing? Thanks anything is appreciated
