No, a dominant gene can never be carried it always shown. It overrules any recessive gene. Not to over complicate things If a hamster receives two different dominant genes for example for coat patterns - banded and dominant spot both of these phenotypes are shown so you will have a banded dominant spot Syrian. As they will get one dominant gene from each parents.

It only ever recessive genes which are carried as these get masked by a dominant gene so won’t be shown in the hamster. So you will need two carriers to produce offspring with this phenotype. However you won’t know which hamsters are carries and which are not as they will exhibit the dominant gene as that overrules any recessive gene.
