I suggest at least a 40 gallon, but even that’s too small. Aquariums are much better than barred cages since hamsters can chew the bars which can damage their teeth, but with aquariums there are no bars to chew on. I’m sorry if this sounds rude, but if you can’t accommodate for a hamster, don’t get one. Again I’m sorry if that sounded rude, I didn’t intend it to be rude. Hamsters have a lot of requirements and are NOT cheap, beginner pets. They can cost up to 500$ total, or more. If you can’t afford that, it’s best not to get a hamster.
