It does sound like it might be ear mites. If he does have cancer, his immune system will be low, making him more prone to things like this. I will ring in the morning and see if I can get an appointment. The vet kind of gave me the impression last time though that there isn't really anything else that can be done apart from keep him comfortable. I'm worried she is going to think I'm putting him through a lot when the outcome is still going to be the same. But if there is a chance I can help his ear whilst he is still doing well in his old age, I of course want to do everything I can, as long as he is not suffering.
