Is this the one you've just adopted that's about 2 years old? It could be the stress of having moved to another home if it is. Diarrhoea and wet tail are not the same things. A hamster can have diarrhoea without having wet tail. Does she seem ok in herself? Could she have got wet in a water bowl or something?

If it is wet tail they will treat with antibiotics - sometimes they get better. The main issue is dehydration, which is why I was asking if she seems ok in herself. I don't think a vet would put her to sleep without trying some medical intervention first.

It can be quite common for a hamster who has just moved to have a stress reaction like diarrhoea.
