Yes it was winter when I had them, but heat can be what makes them hatch out. I had left the lounge warm and cosy all night in winter with an oil fired heater ok not far from the cage. So could one fly in the house and lay eggs in the food or bedding? Or do you think they tend to lay dormant in food supplies.
