Yes it was winter when I had them, but heat can be what makes them hatch out. I had left the lounge warm and cosy all night in winter with an oil fired heater ok not far from the cage. Apparently the eggs can just be dormant in food unless the environment is right for them to hatch out. That was before I knew about freezing food!
