Maybe he was just having a dream? Our robo did this recently after he was out of the cage and in the playpen and in a hide. I still don't know if it was fear, annoyance or just "seeing anything off" that might be in the vicinity. Like with you, once I lifted the hide off him, he stopped doing it.

If Pascal was in his nest he was probably having a dream (chasing a giant cricket or something!).
