I know what you mean about preferring a plastic wheel - much easier for wiping out - possibly - although the niteangel one does have a seam where the front meets the back and I did see reviews about how to get the pee and poops out of that! Wood wheels are fine if plastikoted (and the rodipet ones wear better than the trixie/karlie ones). They're also quite lightweight.
