It sounds like less space wouldn't worry him too much then but I would go for at least 80 x 50cm. Thing is you could get a cage for £50 and then find his wheel doesn't fit and have to get another wheel! Which would add to the cost. So there's that to bear in mind as well. What wheel does he have currently? I think I would try for a tank style if you can as he's having a change of cage and environment and it's quite a change between solid sides and open bars. He "might" take to a barred cage - but then not settle back in his tank and get stressed. Or he might bar chew constantly. If he hasn't been in a barred cage before, you won't know. Very annoying that the zoozone has gone up in price so much since the pandemic (or possibly brexit/import charges). A lot of cages have gone up in price hugely.
