Default Re: Having a hamster while at uni?

It seems unusual not to be allowed a hamster in your room at University. I know a lot of people do (and space is usually the issue). Which University is it? Also if the rules say no pets, sometimes they make exceptions for a hamster in a cage.

I think if your Mum is prepared to look after it fully - out of cage time etc and not just feeding and watering, then that's an option. If tame the hamster should be ok with anyone and remember you (maybe guinea pigs are different that way?) My stepson isn't here all the time and our hamsters always perked up when he was around. Although it's true that they preferred to be handled by me or OH. But yours already knows you. And if you're seeing her at week-ends that's not too long a gap.
