Default Athena

My Russian dwarf hamster Athena had to be put to sleep today. She was 19 months old and had been getting frail and thin for some time. This week I noticed she couldn't eat any hard foods, and soft foods only with great difficulty. She was having to spend ages eating even small amounts of food and then ages cleaning herself because the soft food got all over her fur, and I knew that her quality of life was longer acceptable. The vet couldn't find anything obviously wrong that could be treated so the only option was to have her put to sleep.
