My Syrian has done this a couple of times with one of the entrances to his house. After a while I'll catch him looking at the filled-up entrance, looking confused. I move some of the substrate out of the way and it turns out there's a hole! Who knew? (not the hamster)

But if I try that the day after he's filled it, he'll fill it in again. I have to wait until he's forgotten he's done it.
