ok cool thanks yes I plan to use zip ties to secure the mesh over the holes. I will see how clean I can make the holes and if not bad will skit the tape itself.

I don't have any fruit trees to access around here but I read that maple is ok as well and those are abundant here. I will be sure to heat it in the oven first as well. Will show pics once we get the bin made and hamster rehomed. Will be basic inside at first but will add more and more as we find suitable items. cheers
