I rescue and rehome Robos sometimes and have actually come across this. A couple housed two Robos together and when they cleaned their cage one was missing but they found a bit of fur etc. They put the remaining Robo up for sale in the small ads because of this. They didn't advertise this fact but told me.

I rehomed the Robo and told the lady what had happened but like me, she sympathised with the Robos and blamed the humans who allowed this to happen in the first place.
