Agree with separating them now permanently. Once it has been a fight that has drawn blood, the next fight could be to the death (or serious maiming). Especially as they get older and their hormones kick in and they get more territorial. It’s not worth the risk and can be very distressing. If one did get killed it’s likely the other one would start to eat him (which is their instinct to dispose of a dead animal in the cage). People have been very emotionally affected by this kind of thing to the point they could no longer relate to the remaining hamster.

Is one of them bigger than the other? It can be a build up to a fight where one has been hogging the food and basically bullying in that way - or dominating.

There may be other views. I believe some experienced breeders do try ways of keeping them together but I think you should separate them and let them have their own cage each. It’s something you always need to be prepared for with a pair.
