Using Ikea stuff is fine. It may be mdf but it's encased in melamine - perfectly safe. the important thing is not to have any raw edges of mdf (without melamine on) that could be chewed.

Or an easier option (and probably cheaper would be buy a 100cm Savic Plaza cage and get some good accessories for it (eg a better shelf at one end and a good labyrinth house). It has a nice big front opening door and good for any hamster. I have a robo in it right now but had to make adjustments for a dwarf hamster, due to the height, for safety.
