I am currently using a Marrakesh cage which I think is about the same height and I find it too shallow as well, especially for a syrian. (I will be building an IKEA Komplement cage in the future) I think it depends on what you plan on putting in it and which species of hamster you have.

Thank you very much for your opinion. I also thought it is too shallow but my partner said he could add wood to make it higher. I cannot find any suitable cage anywhere. Would this idea work?
