I have an Amazon Blink Mini camera. It's motion-activated and connects to an app on a phone/tablet. It even has two-way audio, in case I wanted to talk to my hamsters/gerbils remotely (but I don't because my voice sounds weird coming from the camera and it scares them!)

I've found it particularly useful when one of them is ill and I want to keep an extra eye on them. You catch many things you would never have known about otherwise.
