Default Re: are gloves an efficient way to hold hamsters?

I have used gardening gloves before but it just didn't feel right for me.

I get new hamsters out of their cage via a hamster taxi, tube, jug etc and then place them on my lap while i sit in a hamster proof area. I then progress to light stroking, lifting or scooping up once they got used to my smell. Some dwarfs i've put inside my cardigan so they can hide and smell me at the same time.

I've never been one for taming inside their cages or putting my hand in because i've always seen their home as their territory and my hand as an intruder.

A cage with a large front door is a real help when it comes to taming because the hamster can walk out.
