Sadly my beloved hamster Marnie (or Mar-Mar) left us this past Friday. She had a respiratory infection likely caused by an abscess in her left pouch. We took her to a small animal vet and they wanted to keep her overnight for three days but that costs an insane amount of money so we received antibiotics and she was given some remedial treatment while at the vet. But on the car ride home she passed away. I wasn't truly expecting her to recover anyway and the abscess probably would have required surgical removal. It is sad that she never lived into her senior years but thankfully she had a good life while she was with us!
