Taming Robos isn't easy and a lot depends on the individual hamster. I don't know if there is a right or wrong way so i'd be guided by your Robo. As long as your Robo isn't getting too stressed and starts panicking or squeaking with fright then i'd continue as you are. I'd say that you two are making good progress.
