Yes, i think that chicken would rot if left in the cage. I'd give it to her during out of cage time and hope that she'll eat it instead of pouch it for later.

Do you know why she is underweight? Is she getting enough food like a tablespoon of hamster mix daily, fresh veg in small amounts and healthy treats?

I would weigh her weekly to keep an eye on her weight because hamsters can lose weight rapidly should they ever take ill with an infection etc.
