So following on from a thread earlier where we sadly couldn’t keep a puppy due to allergy (had nice updates from new owner who adores him). Still thinking about an alternative pet. Mainly for stepson who isn’t the slightest bit interested in hamsters any more. Obviously nothing is quite like a dog for jumping on your knee and taking for a walk and cats are a similar allergy issue.

So does anyone have experience with lizards? Bearded dragons, geckos etc? I was a bit put off at first by then carrying salmonella and eating live insects. But while reading reviews about cork logs, some bearded dragon owners spoke very fondly of theirs.

Also wondered about Chinchillas. Are they affectionate?
