Default Re: Is this diet okay for a dwarf?

Hello and welcome to HC!

Congratulations to your new hamster.
I believe that a djungarian is a russian dwarf hybrid but i'm not familiar with the sunfire. Is that a coat colour?

As for the diet, i'm sure someone familiar with those listed will be in touch.

Unlike guinea pigs and rabbits, hay isn't part of a hamster's diet but can be added with the substrate to hold tunnels or as an enrichment. I'd freeze the hay for a few days to make sure that there aren't any live bugs in it.

Hybrids are prone to diabetes so its important to avoid sugary treats and fruit but fresh veg, cucumber, romaine lettice etc are fine in small quantities and introduced gradually.

I give my dwarfs one or two small, dried mealworms every other day depending on what other foods they are getting aside from their regular mix.

Hoping to hear and see more of Latte soon.
There is a section on Nutrition on the Forum where you should be able to find relevant thread until someone replies who is able to answer your questions.
