Default Re: keeping cages near each other

My experience with Syrian Hamsters is rather limited so I can't speak from personal experience but I know of several people who do keep Syrian Hamsters in reasonably close proximity to each other without issues however a lot depends on the hamsters. Sometimes people notice more of an issue of the hamsters are of an opposite gender to each other.

I keep my dwarf hamsters in close proximity to each other as I've not really got another option and I find that certain hamsters get on better when their cages are closer to some hamsters than they are to others suggesting that there may be a personality aspect to it. It may be that if they've always been used to living with other hamsters, they get used to it but without knowing your hamster's personalities, it's difficult to say with any certainty that they won't get stressed.
