I'd exchange the house and substrate while he's in his nest and asleep. Hamsters can get a bit stressed but they recover quickly and usually their natural curiousity takes over. I'd hide a treat inside the house like a new whimzee.

As long as you've got planned out what's going where you can be fairly quick about it.
