Your garden sounds fab. I'm still mad with myself for not saving a baby hedgehog years ago. There was a litter under the shed and one kept coming out during the day so i gave it a bit of boiled egg and cat food. One day i found it dead and later i found out that a hedgehog who comes out during the day is ill or weak and that i should have taken it to a wildlife rescue. I wished i had known.
They're such wonderful creatures to see, I've heard so many of my friends long to see a hedgehog in the wild but they have never been able to. Whenever they're here they don't seem to catch a glimpse of them in my garden!

All you can think about though is that you know yourself that you wasn't aware, and I hope you don't kick yourself! You meant well giving the little guy some boiled egg and cat food. It as a common misconception if you don't know a lot about them.

A lot of people I've spoken to about hedgehogs were themselves stunned when they found out about a hedgehog seen in the day is in need of help, although nocturnal I've heard so many wrong impressions that a lot of people assume they should come out during the day (in my neighbourhood anyway).
