Hamsters are prey animals so anything coming from above could be seen as a thread BUT as always, it very much depends on the individual hamster.

Rashy, listen to your hamsters, watch their reactions and behaviours and follow your own instincts because sometimes there are no clear answers.

For a hamster who is so scared that he almost screams when you touch him, the location of the door really may not make any difference.
