The mesh that's on your bin cage now is the one i've always used for dwarfs. Never had any issues. Galvanised steel is very strong and they wouldn't be able to chew through it.

I buy a 5 meter roll from B&Q for £11 which works out cheapest i think, depending on how much you need of course. Wilko used to sell mesh panels for £4.

I don't think i'd ziptie 6 panels together because they may sag where they are fixed together but i can't say for sure.
