Hello. I'll ask one of the moderators to remove your email address as its not a secure thing to do to post it on a forum x

When they lay down beside the wheel I've found it's often after enjoying running on it. I'm guessing you're in the US as wodent wheels aren't available in the Uk any more. In fact I believe wodent wheels aren't made any more. They were taken over first and the wheels changed (maybe the quality not so good).

I have had a wodent wheel and some of them don't spin as well as other wheels. They certainly don't spin as fast or freely as some wheels. The best wheel you can get for that is the 12" silent runner (that's runner not "spinner"). It has holes in like the wodent wheel - spins incredibly well and totally silent. It also has a very safe sturdy one piece stand (I had a hamster trap a leg between a wodent wheel and its stand).

For a 12" wheel it is not bulky at all depthwise - it is just a bit taller. Our hamsters have loved those wheels. It's true they don't run quite as fast in them - but they run well in them (I think the bigger wheel looks slower when turning too).

Our current hamster has the 11" trixie wood wheel (which may or may not be available in the US) and belts along in that. Different style of wheel/running again.
