It is certainly not as easy a cage as one with a solid top. But once built and set up it's good. The green platform it comes with is ok but takes up a lot of space with it's ladder. I got a wood shelf for it and cut it to size. At the same time, cut a little piece off the two corners so it fitted. You need a small saw (or a man with a saw!).

I don't think I would stack any 100 cm cages on top of each other really - they need a shelf in between or something.

The Alexander is a great cage but I think it depends on the personality of the hamster. I had the Barney cage (which has the same small front doors) and that was fine for one Syrian who was quite gregarious and would come and sit at the door to come out. But our current syrian is more docile and it's hard getting them out or doing anything in the cage with the small front doors.

So although the plaza isn't perfect, it's about the only 100cm cage with a big front door.
