hello all. i recently got my syrian hamster- higgins, a little over a month ago. the man at the pet store told me he was about 6-7 months old. about a week ago i noticed that his fur was thinning out in a splotch on his back. since then it’s only gotten worse, and now the spot is completely bald and red. he’s been scratching behind his ears frequently. it’s been about 6 years since i last had a hamster and i’ve never had this problem before. i’m worried he’s in pain or has fleas or something like that
i’m not sure what to do and i’m a broke high school student, so i was hoping to get some insight from anyone here before i just take higgins to a vet. here’s a picture of the spot. any advice is much appreciated!
