Default Robo Hamster Not Running On His Wheel

I have this little robo hamster and I've had him for a while, he's completely comfortable with me and loves running around his cage and on his wheel. (his cage is 650 sq in) I brought home new syrian hamster about a week and a half ago and he's in a completely separate cage like he's supposed to be.
I've noticed that recently my robo hamster won't come out of his burrow for very long and when he does it's only to get the food I've left in his bowl or the treats my mom leaves in his cage. He doesn't urinate or drink water very much anymore and I can tell because his water bowl is always pretty full when I clean it every morning. He's also not running on his wheel as much anymore because it's not as dirty as it used to be when he ran on it all the time.
Could this be because of my new syrian hamster? Their cages are about 2 ft from each other and I thought maybe he doesn't want to come out because he can smell the other hamster? My strain does smell quite strongly.
Does anyone have any ideas?
