His food should be fine so not likely to be an issue there although giving the extras I mentioned may well still be a good idea.
Carefresh can be dusty & generally isn’t the best substrate so it’s possible that might be an issue for him, you could try switching to a paper substrate like kaytee clean & cosy just to see if that helps.
