Hello, they are quite frugal, but what is more surprising is that they leave it in their dish rather than build a hoard. Maybe they would be more interested if you scattered it in the cage so they can forage for it? And make sure you have several inches of bedding, to encourage them to forage and build a little hoard. What food are you giving them? You can try to make it more diverse by making sure you provide fresh veggies (cucumber, carrots, broccoli are mine’s favourites) and adding protein, like mealworms (mine doesn’t like them but many do!), egg white or chicken.
