sorry for the late reply, unfortunatley yes, parents often dissagree with better hamster welfare. The size varies on the hamster, for all hamsters, the bigger the better, however they alll have individual minimums;
Syrian - 12 inch+ (you can give them a slightly smaller one when they are younger)
Chinese - 8 inch +
Campbells - 8 inch +
Robovoski - 7 inch +
Winter White - 8 inch +
Please note that these may not be 100% correct, this si quite a debatable topic, however everyone agrees the bigger the better, and also if your hamster isn't a Syrian, I would recommend asking others, as I only found the other sizes through the internet! Lastly, please make sure not to use a flying saucer, a wheel with rungs or a sandpaper like running track! Hope this helps and good luck!
