Hamster suddenly lost a lot of weight, and now seems to have lost energy
When I first got my Syrian Hamster, Freddy, he was a very energetic and wriggly little thing. About a week or so ago, I’d noticed he’d lost a lot of weight since the day I got him (143g to 136g), and we put it down to stress. He’s been slowly gaining weight since then (139g when I last checked), but I’ve noticed he’s lost a lot of energy. I’ve noticed him fall asleep mid groom or on his wheel, which I’ve never seen him do before. He’s only 8 months old, which feels really early for old age to be setting in. He’s otherwise very happy and healthy, still exploring his cage, as well as eating and drinking normally. Could it just be that he’s started to properly settle in, or should I contact a vet?
