I might try hanging rat sized portions or at least a part of their portions of safe herbs & leafy greens with DIY paper rope(easily twisted out of paper bag material or kraft paper).

I do plan on getting at least one sputnik but I'll probably wait to add it to the cage until the rats are more tame once I have it. I know I could order one online but I'll be able to have some control over the color buying it in store from Pet Supermarket here in the US - plus they're much cheaper there at 7.99 USD compared to most other places charging ~15 USD, so unless I want a really specific color not available in store I'll stick with buying them that way once I do start buying any!

I also have a cheap plastic Halloween bucket that in theory would make a decent hanging bed or small hanging dig box, but that might get reserved for out of cage use or at least until my pair is more tame as well.
