Have you recently cleaned him out? That can make then stressed and try to chew their way out - if it’s been a full cage clean. Is there somewhere dark for him to retreat to? Eg large house or nesting box that’s dark inside or a platform to sit under. They don’t like feeling too exposed from above. Also check his wheel is spinning ok. Sometimes they bar chewing to tell you something is wrong.

The Marrakesh is the same size basically - no bigger. In fact the maxi duna is a bit deeper so a bit bigger overall. It’s true there would be no bars to chew. When did he start doing this?
