Default Re: Old hamster with lump

Hello. I've had exactly the same thing with my one dwarf hamster. He has had a lumps for the last year which have been removed surgically and returned a few months later each time. The vet also said that they are not malignant. My hamster is also now around 1 year and 10 months old and together with the vet, we have decided not to put him through any further surgeries as the anaesthesia is a risk and the recovery is painful.

As long as the lumps are not causing them discomfort, pain or any degradation of mobility or comfort, at this age I would leave them.

Sadly, lumps and tumours are extremely common for hamsters, especially as they get older but as long as his quality of life is ok, that is the most important thing.

Best of luck to you and your little friend!
