Thank you for the advice! I will try this next time I see him awake
his nose seems to be doing a lot better, his antibiotics seem to have worked well enough or it cleared on its own (I also gently cleaned his nose with warm salt-water to help him loosen the crusty bits, and I think this did improve things a bit).
