I gave him some solution in a syringe and he took it happily the first time. Got shaky and twitchy and started moving around more. He refused the syringe again (swatted it away with his paw) and resisted me picking him up. I put a space heater near his cage and put a towel under it so it wouldn't be as cold (from the basement below). He has been much more active since, moving all over his cage. It's encouraging. We will be relocating him for the evenings upstairs, near a baseboard heater, for the rest of the winter.
